Current specific openings:
A postdoctoral fellow and various graduate students position (mainly at the Masters level) are available in the WeckLab in collaboration with an industry partner to create colours in polymers using ultrafast lasers. Techniques and concepts include:
thin film deposition, colours, optics, surface plasmons, laser-based manufacturing, materials manufacturing, nanostructures, nanoparticle synthesis, polymers.
Candidates in Engineering (materials, chemical, mechanical, electrical, etc.) and Physics are encouraged to apply.
Depending on your project you will have the opportunity to access:
Cutting-edge experimental tools in the WeckLab such as ultrafast lasers, high vacuum furnaces, micro-tensile testing equipement, etc. (for more see here)
Modelling tools such as the finite element method (e.g. Abaqus, COMSOL)
International Experience in Various Research Groups (e.g. France, Spain)
Industrial Experience through contact and stays in world leading companies
The WeckLab is also a member of the Center for Research in Photonics at the University of Ottawa (CRPuO) and the Center for Advanced Materials Research (CAMAR) and thus, student from the WeckLab have access to their facilities (CRPuO, CAMAR)
